Dental Implants in Toronto

checkups1

We offer a number of dental implant solutions in Toronto.

In general, anyone missing at least one tooth and healthy enough to undergo routine dental treatment, including tooth extraction, is probably able to undergo dental implant treatment.

If you’re interested in replacing one or several missing teeth with dental implants, please call us to schedule a dental implant consultation.

Dental Crowns

When a tooth is weakened due to trauma, large fillings, root canal treatment or decay, a crown may be required to restore it to optimal health and function. A crown, also referred to as a “cap”, is a tooth or gold coloured covering that is permanently placed over an existing tooth. It can be used to add strength, correct the bite or improve the overall appearance of a tooth.

A crown fits over the entire top of the tooth above the gum line. Crowns cover, protect, seal and strengthen a tooth. A crown is needed when a filling just will not work or has failed. A crown may be made of gold, white porcelain, or porcelain fused to gold.

Dentures & Partial Dentures

A denture is a removable dental appliance replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissue. They are made to closely resemble your natural teeth and may even enhance your smile.
There are two types of dentures – complete and partial dentures.

Complete dentures are used when all of the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain.

A Partial denture fills in the spaces created by missing teeth; it prevents other teeth from shifting but it does not prevent bone loss.

Fixed Bridges

Bridges are natural-looking dental appliances that can replace one or more missing teeth. Because they are custom-made, bridges are barely noticeable and can restore the natural contour of teeth as well as the proper bite relationship between upper and lower teeth.

Bridges are sometimes referred to as fixed partial dentures, because they are semi-permanent and are bonded to existing teeth or implants. Some bridges are removable and can be cleaned by the wearer; others need to be removed by a dentist.

Porcelain, gold alloys or combinations of materials are usually used to make bridge appliances.

Composite Fillings

The solution for many types of cavities today is dental composite fillings. With composite fillings, the cavity is filled with a material that closely resembles the colour of your natural teeth; hence the term, “white filling.” The material is actually a combination of glass or quartz filler in resin.

Composite fillings are designed to not only provide long-lasting, aesthetically pleasing results for patients but also to restore and strengthen a tooth. In fact, most composite fillings, unlike the old metal fillings, involve removing only a small amount of natural tooth during a cavity-filling procedure.
